When Debi first started practicing yoga, it was purely for physical exercise. She always left the class before corpse pose because she didn’t understand its purpose and importance. A couple of years later, when she faced a devastating life change, yoga became a reliable, soothing and healthy escape. Debi discovered that, by focusing on her breath and body as she moved from one pose to another, she became peaceful. Those hours of yoga gave her a much-needed break from emotional and psychological pain and helped her find strength to be happy and strong again. Debi believes that, regardless of how stressful or stress-free our lives are, yoga is beneficial for everyone. And everyone can do it. She encourages the use of props and modified poses so that individuals can push their bodies to safe limits. She attended Ashtanga yoga teacher training in India and Yin yoga teacher training at Rama Lotus Yoga Centre. Initially, she took this training to enrich her personal practice but, after having given private lessons to family and friends and then after having taught a Community yoga session at Rama Lotus, she found it so rewarding that she decided to teach regularly. She’s delighted and honoured to teach at Rama Lotus Yoga Centre.
