“On your next exhale…”

You’ve probably heard this direction countless times in yoga classes, and followed along with ease.  For people with lung disease, this simple instruction can be a challenge to follow. Quick transitions between asanas can leave some people breathless, gasping for air, or anxious. In this workshop you will be guided through a slow moving class that focuses on opening the lungs, and working at a safe pace.  This two-hour intensive was created to help teachers accommodate their students who may silently suffer from breathing issues.

Come and explore how to stay active despite breathing challenges.  For teachers, this may be as simple as encouraging people to work at their own pace, or cueing breathing in different ways. For students this may be the first time they’ve been guided through an exercise related program that focuses on breathing challenges as they relate to stress, movement, temperature, and posture. Students – and anyone who has ever had breathing issues – are welcome to join and learn how to adapt their practice, even if it means not doing exactly as the teacher says.
