More often a tortoise than a hare, Sarah's study of yoga began during her undergrad at McGill University almost a decade ago. In love over and over again with the feeling of connection and serenity the practice brings, Sarah endeavours to make yoga fun and accessible to yogis from all walks of this life. On or off of the mat, there is always
something new to discover or uncover or to research further; the practice is simple, but the results are profound.
Looking for a change in her life, Sarah moved to Ottawa under the guise of pursuing her Master's degree. Faced with a difficult time surrendering to her new life in the National Capital, a friend suggested she reconnect with her yoga practice, and things snowballed from there. An attitude of ‘if not now, when?' led her to pursue her first Yoga Alliance certification in tandem with her academic pursuits, and she began teaching people on mats, officially, shortly before the completion of her MA.
Sarah is certified at the 500-hour level in Classical Hatha (akhanda – meaning whole, unbroken). A strong belief that there are moments of bliss and liberation available through movement and breath, her yogic path has much to do with living a graceful life of honesty and integrity. Sarah's classes are methodical, though varied, and combine vinyasa (movement with breath) and static asanas (postures) with pranayama (breathing) techniques.
Her spiritual name, Tarika, is taken from the stars in the night sky which light the earth in its darkest hours. As a name, it is given to those who inspire others. She looks forward to seeing you on your mat!
