Monika was first drawn to Yoga in 2005 after years of struggling with anxiety attacks, depression and chronic pain. Severely ill, it took her 8 months to attend 5 classes. She intuitively knew that Yoga was a powerful tool for healing and felt the need to gain a fuller understanding of the practice to personally integrate the deeper effects. She committed herself to the practice of Yoga by jumping into the Rama Lotus 200 hour Hatha Teacher Training course from which she graduated in the spring of 2006. One of the many things she took from this training was to teach from experience. In January 2007, after putting what she had learned into effect in her own life, she began to teach.
Monika has spent the last four years deepening her practice, studying and teaching. Her teaching, while Hatha based, has been influenced by Kundalini, Viniyoga, Kripalu and Akhand approaches. She divides her teaching time between in-studio classes, community classes of people struggling with mental health challenges, and volunteering with special needs groups. She aspires to provide the space in each class for students to connect with the transformational healing properties that Yoga makes available to all. Her workshops are designed to help people integrate the stress reducing tools of Yoga into every day life. In gratitude to the teachers that have crossed her path, she joyfully passes on the knowledge they have shared.
