Jacquie first took to a yoga mat when she was training as a ballet dancer many years ago. In 1998, after leaving the dance theatre, she started practicing Ashtanga yoga with Mark Darby in Montreal. She has since studied Eastern philosophy and many different styles of yoga, including Iyengar, Bikram, Hatha, Yin and Sivananda. Ashtanga has been her primary practice because of the flow, grace and meditative aspect of working with each ujayi breath. Jacquie's classes are dynamic and often theme-based, providing a balance of strength and flexibility according to individual needs. She weaves principles of anatomy and energetics into her yoga classes, so that students can deepen their understanding of the actions and benefits inherent within each posture.
Jacquie is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and practices integrative medicine and Bowen Therapy at Pure Med Naturopathic Centre in Ottawa. She completed her teacher training at Downward Dog Yoga Centre in Toronto, under the guidance of Ron Reid and Diane Bruni. Although she has studied with well known teachers like A.G. Mohan, Danny Paradise and Richard Freeman, she is also very grateful for all the other gems she has learned from, who fly under the radar.
